DomusTalk x Martex – The Office as a Campus

An event full of ideas and visions for the future of the workplace brought energy to DomusTalk: “The Office as a Campus – Hybrid Spaces for Learning, Meeting, Working, and Well-Being”, hosted at Tricolore Design Hub in Milan.
It was an inspiring evening that offered valuable insights for reimagining the workplace as a space for well-being, relationships, and personal growth.

A Journey Through the History of the Office

Journalist Simona Bordone (Special Projects and Domus Archive) guided the audience on a fascinating journey through time, illustrating—through a curated selection of archival images and articles—how the office environment has evolved from the 1940s to today.
A visual narrative of black-and-white photographs, iconic covers, and milestone projects traced the key stages in the evolution of the workplace: from the hierarchical, formal offices of the postwar era to today’s open, flexible, and hybrid spaces.

Design Experiences and Shared Visions

Moderated by Bordone, the talk featured contributions from:

Michele Rossi, Architect – Park Associati

Francesco Borromeo, Architect – Studio Hus

Andrea Bottoli, Head of Sales for the Middle East and Asia – Martex S.p.A.

The architects shared real-world design experiences, explaining how spatial design is increasingly becoming a tool to foster connection, well-being, and a sense of community.
Completing the discussion, Martex presented its vision of the workplace as a fluid ecosystem—one that adapts to the needs of people and organizations, not only within large corporations but also among small and medium-sized enterprises now rethinking their work environments.

A shared vision emerged from the collective reflection:
the office of the future will resemble a university campus, where diverse and complementary spaces coexist—areas for learning, informal zones for meeting and exchanging ideas, and places for relaxation, sport, creativity, and social interaction.
A system of interconnected environments that promotes balance, cross-pollination, and everyday well-being.

A heartfelt thank you to Domus, to the speakers for their thoughtful contributions, and to all the architects and professionals who joined with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a spirit of exchange.

Let’s continue designing spaces that inspire, connect, and make people feel good.
