On 1 January 2014, the municipalities of Alphen aan den Rijn, Rijnwoude and Boskoop merged. In order to make this possible, the city hall of Alphen aan den Rijn was completely refurnished, in order to accommodate 300 more people. They chose to furnish part of the space with Inattesa, a product by Martex that is composed of elements which create relaxing areas and, at the same time, enable workers to do different activities: compare ideas, realize projects, discuss together in a different atmosphere and, especially, relax. C4ID has developed a concept based on the idea not of creating as many workstations as possible, but of using as many different spaces in the building as possible, so that anyone is able to do their work anywhere. The main idea was always to keep the wellbeing of the employees and the visitors in mind. Furthermore, a large freedom of choice has been offered as regards workplaces and meeting points. The whole space is experienced as a city in a city: there are busy and quiet areas, cafés and study rooms like in a library. The setup is realized in a way that you can wander around until you have found your perfect spot, depending on your work, mood and the need to have people around you or just quietness… no one working day will be the same! C4ID has completely redesigned the office floors, the council chamber, the restaurant, the work café and some new meeting rooms and intermediary spaces. The existing spaces have also been renovated with the same look and feel.
